Structural Integration (AKA Rolfing)
Structural work is a powerful treatment modality for those looking to make major changes in their bodies. This work can be done for “fix it” type work when one has an injury or imbalance, and only has a couple sessions, but it is best used as it was developed as a ten week series of sessions where the client comes once a week over the course of ten weeks. Throughout the course of the ten weeks the client is brought through an entire transformation into a more efficient and proper body alignment. One can expect significant changes to take place in their bodies as well as in their performance and their day to day lives.Sessions 1, 2, & 3 are about opening the sleeves of the body, or the limbs and more external “doing” muscles. These are the sessions that you could do at any time for some relief in more commonly sore overworked muscles. Sessions 4, 5, 6, & 7 go deeper into the core of the body and would only be done after sessions 1-3. It is also not advised to stop your treatment in the middle of these core sessions as that could be more disorganizing for your alignment. Session 8, 9, & 10 are when we truly start to notice changes and fine tune what our overall goal is: to find a more efficient posture and rid ourselves of patterns that do not serve us. The final 3 sessions are the organizing ones that help to fine tune the entire process.
